MANILA, Philippines – A 2009 CES Innovation Award honoree for “Ultra-Slim Digital Camera”, the highly portable ST50 is a remarkably slim 12.2 megapixel digital camera measuring just 16.6mm thick (excluding the lens). It offers a large 2.7-inch LCD screen for framing shots and reviewing images and videos, as well as a high-quality Samsung lens with 3x optical zoom.
The ST50 incorporates Samsung’s new Smart Auto feature which takes ease-of-use to a new level by automatically selecting one of the camera’s 11 scene modes that best suits the environment the user is shooting in.
An intelligent beauty, the ST50 grabs attention with its brushed stainless steel body and slim profile. It incorporates Samsung’s proprietary Smart Album program, which enables users to search the files they have saved on their memory card for any specific image. Smart Album automatically organizes users’ digital images and gives them the ability to narrow their search based on the date or month the image was taken, the overall color tone, and the file type, be it a photo, video, or voice memo.
The camera also offers consumers face detection, smile shot, blink detection, and beauty shot technology, to capture the best facial expressions. Face detection automatically recognizes up to nine faces in a frame and adjusts camera settings to maximize image quality, while smile shot captures an image the moment the ST50 recognizes a smile. When blink setection is selected, the ST50 will automatically take two successive shots when the shutter button is fully pressed, and a third shot will be taken if the camera detects that a subject’s eyes are closed. The beauty shot mode is a unique option that automatically retouches imperfections like blemishes and dark spots on a subject’s face to improve skin tones. Users are able to control the level of retouching to any image.
Video recording is another function in the new ST50. Featuring MPEG-4 video recording, users can capture video at a maximum resolution of 800x592 (SVGA) at 20fps and utilize the camera’s 3x optical zoom for added versatility. In-camera editing controls allow users to pause, then resume filming of video clips without having to save each clip as an individual file.
The Samsung ST50 is available in black, red, silver, blue at a recommended retail price of P15,490.
