Plumped for beauty

I still remember the day my sister gave me her pasalubong from Paris. She said it was the latest craze — a lip plumper. She was very excited about it.

See, my sister has thin lips while I have had fish lips all my life. I seriously wondered if my lips could get any thicker.

Blame it on Angelina Jolie. Pouty lips are the biggest thing in beauty, so much that celebrities — from Nicole Kidman to Britney Spears — have attempted serious lip plumping measures with not necessarily the best results.

It was also in France where self-proclaimed beauty junkie and Fusion Beauty founder Randi Shinder discovered the patented technology of the first-ever penetrating collagen.

Unlike normal collagen molecules that are too big to be absorbed into the skin, it was discovered that collagen dehydrated into tiny microspheres can penetrate and re-plump with the body’s natural water.

Using this technology, Shinder came up with Fusion Beauty to offer women safe and “needle-free” alternatives to attain fuller lips and fresh-looking eyes.

Let’s start with the eyes.

You know the first thing that makes you look tired and older is the skin around the eyes, so you have to take good care of that. Some days you wake up without having had a good night’s rest and it really shows in your eyes.

Try LiftFusion Micro-injected M-tox transdermal Eye Lift (P 4,250), a rich serum that comes in a sleek pump bottle. Consider it a solution for those stressful, sleepless days when you really need an emergency eye lift.

Another big thing in beauty right now are the individual fake lashes popular with today’s young celebrities. While they really do make you look prettier, I’ve heard bad reviews about real lashes thinning out once the false lashes start falling off.

Fusion Beauty offers an alternative with its LashFusion Micro-Technology Pure Protein Lash Plump (P1,850).

It promises no clumping, no flaking, and no smudging, while instantly lengthening, strengthening, and plumping lashes in one multitasking formula. Available in brown and black, this pure protein mascara is ophthalmologist-tested, hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, and safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers

Onto the lips.

Fusion Beauty comes up with three simple steps to achieve luscious, pouty lips through its award-wining LipFusion range.

We begin with Lip Fusion Lip Plumper Gloss with Micro-Injected Collagen (P1,850), the original, best-selling, pout-plumping gloss that starts working the minute you swipe it on. Achieve fuller lips similar to that of having collagen lip injections — minus the pain. Results may last up to 48 hours.

Step two is a LipFusion Lip Plumping Pencil (P1,450). Use this to trace your lips and let the plump-a-thon begin. It smoothes and improves lip contour up to six hours, minimizing fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth.

I tried this and used it as a lipstick covering the entire lip areas. As if my lips could get any thicker! I loved the shade and finished it off with a lipgloss.

Step three is the LipFusion Color Shine (P1,850 ) —the final step to achieving the perfect pout.

This high-shine gloss uses the same pout-enhancing formula as the original (step one) but is colored and spiked with micro-mica for a mirror-like shine.
