Tommy Hilfiger’s gold standard

How can you put fame in a bottle?

Well, Tommy Hilfiger did it with his exciting fragrance with Beyoncé Knowles called True Star Gold.

As a second installment in the True Star series, this collaboration between Hilfiger and Knowles is a surprisingly light, non-diva-like fragrance that blooms with lilies, melons, kiwi, greens, linden blossom and pumpkin flower. The scent was inspired by the energy of Beyoncé, who in the industry is known as a vibrant and enigmatic figure, and Hilfiger’s retreat in Mustique which is swimming with the gentle scents of nature.

"This aroma became the fragrance’s signature. The fragrance engages several senses with contrasting sensations: brightness and depth, intrigue and vibrancy, subtlety and surprise. It’s easy to wear. It injects mystique into casual, everyday experiences," says Hilfiger.

Tommy Hilfiger, a star in his own right, chose Beyoncé as his partner for this dynamic fragrance line for a simple reason: "True Star Gold is every bit as captivating as Beyoncé. The fragrance is a celebration of Beyoncé the performer, the beautiful woman and the talented superstar. She is a true star with global appeal and I am so thrilled to work with her on another fragrance," enthuses Hilfiger.

Here Beyonce gives us the lowdown on her new fragrance and her superstardom:

What is True Star Gold about?

It’s about a live performance. It’s very bold and energetic. When I wear it, I feel like "Sasha," my alter-ego on stage.

What is the difference between the original True Star and True Star Gold?

The original True Star was a private performance, sensual and soft. True Star Gold is a reflection of me on stage – it’s a sexy, confident fragrance.

What was it like to work with Mario Testino on the ad campaign?

He captured another moment of me. I almost don’t recognize myself in the ad campaign.

How do you cope with the stress of performing, making appearances, and doing movies?

I love it. It comes naturally to me. I’m honored to be touring with the girls of Destiny’s Child right now. It’s our last tour together so I’m excited, nervous and anxious all at once.

What are your plans for the near future?

Starting in November, I’ll be busy rehearsing for the movie Dreamgirls. It’s been my dream to do a musical for so long. I’ll be playing the role of Deena Jones and I’m excited about the opportunity to play the character from her late teens to her early 30s.
