Fans of Enrique know how much he enjoys writing songs and performing onstage. This fervent fire for singing has earned for Enrique worldwide success. The guy has sold nearly 40 million albums across the globe, with seven gold and multi-platinum albums, as well as hits in America, Japan, South Africa and even India. His fans are in for a surprise when they find out Enrique is not just making hits, but has also collaborated with Tommy Hilfiger to come up with another surefire hit a new perfume called True Star Men.
"As an artist, Im constantly looking for innovative ways to express myself creatively; working with Tommy to create True Star Men has allowed me to do so," says Enrique. "With my music, I am constantly experimenting with new sounds and lyrics to create songs, and this scent was created in the same fashion."
True Star Men, a new mens fragrance collection, was recently unveiled by Tommy Hilfiger Toiletries. The Latin pop music artist was chosen for his dynamism and energy, according to Robin Mason, Aramis and Designer Fragrances VP for global marketing.
"His raw talent has made an indelible mark on the global music scene. True Star Men captures his confident, charismatic personality, and appeals to the modern man who is in touch with the pulse of the moment," Mason adds.
The scent is described as "modern and sensual," as well as "edgy and relaxing at the same time." A soft-spiced wood fragrance, True Star Men is preceded by the cool crispness of pink grapefruit blended with mysterious tones of black licorice. The fragrance builds with a modern softness from saffron and sandalwood. The fragrance is versatile: men can wear it on any occasion.
"With True Star Men, we wanted to develop a fragrance of contrast from a unique blend of captivating notes so that when you wear the fragrance, it envelops you with a relaxed yet addictive feel," shares Raymond Matts, Aramis and Designer Fragrances VP for corporate fragrance development worldwide. "This fragrance like its inspiration, Enrique speaks to a man who has his own identity, is secure and at ease."
The shape of the bottle is worth mentioning also. With clean lines and an elegant demeanor (not unlike the build of the Latin pop singer himself), the True Star eau de toilette bottle is molded by a cool, translucent charcoal gray glass with a thermo-luster metallic finish, and is designed to resemble a microphone that Enrique would use on-stage. So, if youre a guy with dreams of singing Bailamos at, say, the MTV Music Awards, then you could practice prancing a la Enrique in the shower.
Tommy Hilfiger recently launched a TV ad campaign directed by David LaChapelle and a print ad campaign featuring photos of Enrique taken by Mario Testino.
Brand main man Tommy Hilfiger concludes, "True Star Men is a fragrance for the modern man. It was inspired by Enrique Iglesias, who is the quintessential contemporary man. Hes talented, cool, charismatic, and he appeals to people worldwide with his casual and relaxed sense of style."
