The Tower Club, the Philippines’ most prestigious business and social club, recently became the venue of an exceptional dinner in honor of German corporate maverick Wolfgang Roehr, the founder and driving force behind the Roehr Group of Companies that includes Biogenerics, Ltd. and Germed Pharma Corp., makers of the weight loss blockbuster EXOFAT.

One of a new breed of global corporate pioneers, Roehr heads a company that manufactures quality generic medicines and nutraceutical products.

The tall, charming and articulate Roehr was tendered an exquisite dinner co-hosted by Josie Lichauco, that tireless and brilliant technocrat and former undersecretary of the DOTC, and unquestionably still the epitome of dynamism, elegance and style.

A-list guests came to honor the remarkable German, one of the country’s most committed investors. Roehr is esteemed for his faith in Filipinos who he continuously prods to compete globally. Among the guests were industry titans June Lagman, president of the Alen Group of Companies; Jose Mari Chan, president/CEO A. Chan Sugar Corp.; Pacqui Campos, president of Campos Rueda & Sons, joined by Lilibeth; Lani Bernardo president of Chemdis Philippines; Conchitina Sevilla-Bernardo; Henry Zabarte, chairman/president of Sacred Heart Academy who came with his chic wife Jojo Z.

Also present were Cyndy Tan-Jarabata, Tower Club membership director; former Executive Secretary Eki Cardenas; MNX Product Collection president, lovely Joanne Matschuck; Dr. Joerge Breuer, sales and marketing director of BMW Phils.; Dr. Gunther Matschuck, general manager, Maschinen & Technik Inc.; Mary Ann Chan; Trina Ludovice, marketing manager, BMW Phils.; and Joyce Ramirez, director of communications, Roehr Group of Companies.

Held at the exquisitely appointed Murano Room, the superb dinner began with smoked salmon with buckwheat pancake, green lip mussel and saffron soup, then segued to mesquite grilled salmon gill and cream braised potatoes. Then came the citrus marinated beef fillet au jus and French potato gratin capped by mango cheesecake with strawberry.

Wolfgang delivered a moving speech after expressing his gratitude to the hosts and guests, and again reiterated his faith on the "vast potential of the Filipinos as global pioneers."

To one of the staunchest believers of our capability as a nation, a most committed investor and truly a global visionary, may I say, "Bravo and welkommen, Wolfgang!
