Yes, dahling, it’s another beauty pageant and it’s called Miss Philippines. So what else is new? Well, this one has a mission, palanggas: to help preserve and care for the environment. At the launch a fortnight ago at Stars, Ramon Monzon and Lorraine Schuck of Carousel Productions welcomed guests.

Though it is the new kid on the beauty pageant block, Miss Philippines offers the richest cash prize: a quarter of a million pesos aside from other non-cash prizes like a college scholarship in environmental studies. In a press presentation at the pageant’s official residence, the Hotel Intercontinental naturellement, 24 candidates from all over the country showed off their charm, wit and winning curves. Coronation night is on April 28, palanggas, so watch for it!
