Katrina Goulbourn creates nature-inspired christening gowns

MANILA, Philippines - Katrina Goulbourn’s latest collection of christening gowns, called “Eden,” is inspired by the beauty of nature’s flora and fauna. Each gown is crafted in silk or hand-woven piña silk in varying shades of vanilla with a touch of understated color in embroidered flowers, leaves or vines. There are gowns that are specific to a baby girl or boy, or can be unisex.

“These gowns are quite romantic. I experimented with different types of embroidery stitches combined in a gown to interpret the different aspects of the flower or plant and to make the embroidery come alive,” explains Goulbourn. “I used color sparingly with just subtle shades to bring out the embroidery designs and bring forth a sense of individuality and character.”

Katrina Goulbourn’s christening gowns are available at Rustan’s Makati, Alabang and Shangri-La Plaza, and at Silk Cocoon at the New World Hotel in Makati. Call 811-6856.
