A'postrophe: A store is born

MANILA, Philippines - There’s something about A’postrophe that arouses your curiosity so you just have to enter the store. Picture whimsical furniture and accent pieces for the home sitting side by side a smorgasbord of sumptuous, one-of-a-kind gift items and fashion offerings from around the world. There are embroidered sari-inspired tops, hand-pounded brass cups from Afghanistan, Murano-inspired glass rings, oversized sheer scarves, safari jersey tops, porcelain cactus sculptures, Bohemian earrings, Tibetan bracelets and pouches, vintage trunks and goat skin throws, petalled shift dresses, hammered cuffs, patent Tiffany bags, crochet-ed ponchos, layered lace tops and floral skirts, Ganesh-printed sling bags, Ohm yoga mat bags, gypsy owl pendants, Shanghai nesting storage boxes, Eiffel Tower lamps and bookends, travel journals, bejeweled silk pillows, jewel-toned cotton eyelet dresses, and bird cage chairs. How can so much precious merchandise fit into so little space?

Much attention is devoted to every little detail — color, texture, etc. And with breezy music wafting in the air and the soothing scent of lavender gently caressing you, you unravel this treasure trove of a store one theme — or color, genre or look — at a time.

The journey of discovery takes you from hard-to-find objets d’art, to house- wares, accent furniture, and décor from exotic places overseas, to world-class local crafts exclusively made for the store and are priced reasonably even as they may be considered investment pieces.

The fashionista will find casually stylish pieces inspired by the hottest fashion trends abroad but tweaked to suit the Asian taste and vice versa. It’s mainstream fashion with a delightful twist. There’s a sprinkling of more edgy pieces when the theme for the season or visual merchandizing calls for it. Unique and wearable, a lot of the clothes allow for accessorizing so that you can create your own look.

A’postrophe takes its inspiration from the lifestyle of someone who loves shopping for uniquely beautiful pieces from all over and shares this experience through the store.

But of course, A’postrophe did not forget the men. Soon, Apostrophe will be carrying men’s fashion, accessories and male gift finds.

Black & White Section: Peekaboo dress, P1,195; houndstooth pouch, P350; Audrey pillow, P995; houndstooth notebook, P345; haula single-seater chair (price upon request); Venice books, P795

All the painstaking work of the innovative people behind A’postrophe did not go unnoticed. This year, the store was voted Most Promising Retailer at the 13th Annual Ayala Malls Merchant Rewards. The positive feedback plus this recent affirmation encouraged the owners to put up more outlets of Apostrophe. With A’postrophe in Glorietta, Makati as its maiden store, it opened a trunk store in Greenbelt, Makati this year. A full store recently opened at the cinema level of TriNoma, North Triangle, Quezon City. Another branch just opened at the ground floor of Market! Market! in Taguig, right across the mall’s Concierge. And it will open at Alabang Town Center in the first quarter of 2012.

Surely, A’postrophe puts the exclamation point to your shopping.
