MANILA, Philippines - Liturgica, a one-stop religious store for church needs and individual devotions, recently opened at the site of the former chapel, fifth level of SM Megamall.
The first store is the first of its kind and is a tie-up between Liturgica, a newly established religious foundation, and SM. The store was initiated by Felicidad Sy. All profits will be for the benefit of the Archdiocese of Manila.
Liturgica is divided into five sections. Rogate, which means to pray, has religious images of Jesus, the Blessed Mother, and the saints, medals, rosaries, and devotional prayers.
The San Jose section has sacred vessels used during Mass like chalices, ciborium, intimtorium, bells, and Mass kits.
A section carried priest robes and vestments made by the nuns of Talleres de Nazareth like the amice, alb, cincture, maniple, stole, chasuble, and surplice. Religious books are also available.
The Vitre Artes section has altars and retablos, stained-glass art, holy water fonts, candle stands, lecterns, and church furniture like pews, which can be made to order. Vitre Artus, among whose projects have included the renovation of the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, as well as the Nuestra Señora del Pilar Church in Zamboanga and the Saint Francis Xavier Church in Malaysia, can also be consulted for religious space planning and design. It also does restoration and conservation of stained-glass windows for churches.
Liturgica recently had a simple opening attended by Fr. Dave Concepcion, Fr. Genaro Diwa, Sister Lourdes Tacpalan of SSJ (Siervas de San Jose), and Dr. Wilfredo Rivera, and Robert Cruz of Vitre Artus. SM officials led by Felicidad Sy, SM Department Store EVP for operations Jorge Mendiola, and vice president Rose Siaco welcomed guests.
The Liturgica store is located at the fifth level of SM Megamall Building B.
