When I think about eyebrows, a few celebrities come to mind: Brooke Shields, Jean Harlow, Joan Crawford, Frida Kahlo, Madonna, Marcia Cross, Kris Aquino, Gary Estrada.
Eyebrows are such an important part of the face. They contribute to one’s facial expression or first impression.
Brooke Shields was known for her bushy virgin eyebrows.
In the ‘90s, when Madonna shaved her eyebrows like Jean Harlow, we followed suit and ended up looking older.
It was said that after Joan Crawford shaved her eyebrows for a role, they never grew back and she just painted them on. Kris Aquino’s trademark “number-seven” eyebrows are supposedly feng shui-ed, if we are to believe the grapevine.
Whenever I watch Desperate Housewives, I can’t help but think that if Marcia Cross had thicker eyebrows, she might look less “fierce.”
Frida Kahlo had the monobrow as did Gary Estrada.
In Japan, lots of men have their eyebrows groomed professionally. I brought this up while interviewing Queer Eye’s grooming guru Kyan Douglas a few years back. He said men have to take care of their eyebrows and clean them up on top and underneath — but they still have to be bushy and masculine.
Enter the brow experts, the newly opened Browhaus in Serendra.
They do eyebrows, eyelashes and “everything about the face,” including upper lip, forehead, sideburns, chin (even fingers) says business owner Roberta “Tab” Abad.
Tab bought the franchise from Singapore after having experienced Browhaus and discovering a whole new science behind brow beauty.
Among the services offered is Brow Construction (P580).
Choose from Classic Threading using a special imported thread (and not your run-of-the-mill sewing thread used in other salons) or Modern Tweezing, using a special technique whereby “you don’t feel as much pain as doing it yourself” says Roberta.
Add a Color Tweak to your eyebrows (P900) using vegetable dyes for that boost of colors to soften or darken your brows.
Lash Curl Up (P2,200) will make you look like you were born with naturally curled eyelashes, while Lash in Bloom (P3,800) will extend your lashes using the highest quality lash follicles for that naturally lush look.
Brow Resurrection will set you back P25,000 for lengthening and P35,000 for full brows — and those are not typos. Have the eyebrows you never you had through a very advanced and meticulous eyebrow tattoo that’s “so lifelike it looks like real strands of hair,” says Tab.
Browhaus understands that each face is unique with differing bone structure and muscle definition. To achieve the best kind of arch you’ll ever have, a therapist will draw out the shape based on the client’s face shape, eye shape, nose, chin, skin and age group.
Browhaus uses a precise Blueprint System that employs grid technology and modern science to achieve the perfect brow. And with girls meticulously trained under Singaporean standards, why settle for less?
