Rustan’s Supermarket, founded in 1970, is a forerunner and leader in modern grocery retailing having introduced many innovations and developments that are still being imitated to this day. It has rightfully earned a good reputation for its focus on quality, customer service and fresh food.
Continuously expanding and growing with the changing times and in its unwavering commitment to serve the Cebuano shoppers better, Rustan’s Supermarket recently reopened its newly renovated branch at Ayala Center Cebu’s new expansion wing.
Leading the bread-breaking ceremony to officially unveil the bigger and more efficient Rustan’s Supermarket Cebu (RSCI) were top executives such as chairman emeritus, father of Philippine luxury retailing and former Philippine Ambassador to the Vatican, Bienvenido Tantoco Sr.; chairman of the board Bienvenido Tantoco Jr.; president Donnie Tantoco; CEO Pierre Olivier Deplanck and Dairy Farm International’s regional CEO for South Asia Alex Tay. They were joined by Congressman Raul del Mar; Cebu Holdings executive vice president Aniceto Bisnar; Ayala Land Inc.’s AVP and Vismin head of operations Clavel Tongco and society philanthropists Amparito Lhuillier and Mariquita Yeung.
“We are giving you probably the best Rustan’s Supermarket right here in Ayala Center and a world class shopping experience like no other,” said Deplanck in his welcome remarks. “You asked for a bigger store, but not only are we giving you wider aisles, we have also improved our offerings, with more variety, international selections and innovative food concepts, all to please your discerning palates.”
Deplanck was referring to the 2,800-square-meter space designed by international retail artist Shozu Nitta.
Rustan’s Supermarket Cebu president Donnie Tantoco spoke about the long history and presence of RSCI in Cebu. “We consider Cebu a second home, particularly since we have been here since our first store opened in 1981. For over three decades, we have stayed true to our creed of providing and offering the citizens of Cebu the kind of grocery experience we believe they deserve.”
Guests enjoyed a sumptuous brunch that featured dishes from culinary capitals around the globe and used ingredients from the supermarket accompanied with free-flowing premium label wines from their extensive wine selection.
An on-site prosciutto carving station paired with delectable spreads of popular cheeses also highlighted the offerings at the supermarket’s new gourmet-to-go. Finally, a performance by show violinist Juleous capped off the celebration on a sweet note.
The modern, well-stocked and brightly-lit Rustan’s Supermarket is designed to meet every food desire of the Cebuanos. And as for customer service, rarely will you see an employee who is not cheerful, friendly and downright helpful, making grocery shopping a truly enjoyable experience.
Rustan’s Supermarket carries exclusive brands alongside other well-known international brands, defining to a large extent the very concept of modern food retailing.
