MANILA, Philippines -When L’Indochine recently opened at SM Aura Premier, shoppers couldn’t get enough of the exquisite fashion accessories, apparel and home decor from Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand. It felt like traveling through these exotic destinations while shopping.
Sourced from tribes in the Chiang Mai highlands, cultural communities in Laos and Myanmar and craft villages in Cambodia and Vietnam, many of these items are handmade, making them one-of-a-kind and limited in quantity. Created by skilled craftsmen trained in techniques passed on from generations, these special pieces can each take anywhere from a week to a hundred days to produce. Each visit to the store is an opportunity for the customer to unearth a new and exciting find.
There were lots of wonderful finds when guests had a first look at L’Indochine’s new collection during the recent VIP shopping event.
Home innovators loved the Burmese lacquer owls, pagoda and cylinder boxes, gold lotus sticks, and gold leaf monk jars; silver-plated elephant boxes from Cambodia; decorative sticky rice boxes, hand painted hooks, and ceramic pony decors from Thailand; and lacquer trays and bamboo boxes from Vietnam.
The stylish set, on the other hand, loved the fashion finds: layered necklaces and colorful boheme bags from Thailand, wood block printed pants from Nepal, and embroidered shirts from India.
