First ‘Cusina Idol’ wins half a million

MANILA, Philippines - Marc Justin Tee bested nine other finalists in a cooking showdown that featured culinary enthusiasts preparing innovative dishes using chicken and fish.

“Cusina Idol” is a unique cooking competition hosted by CDC Manufacturing Corporation, makers of tableware Melawares. The completion was held at GalaStars Culinary Studio of culinary specialist Sylvia Reynoso-Gala, the contest saw the contestants cooking their dishes in just an hour before the board judges. They were also required to use Melawares, Perfect Dining, Bestware, Urban Kitchen, Rosseto and Loveramics products in plating their dishes.

Tee won for his unusual take on chicken tinola and tinapa cucumber rolls. He won P500,000 worth of  kitchen equipment and accessories from Melawares, Bestware, Urban Kitchen, Perfect Dining, Urban Kitchen and Sodastream. 

In second place was Ma. Clarissa Rosales, who took the prize for chicken binacol ala Clarisse and royal milkfish with smoked ham margue and supreme soup. Third runner-up Gemma Sontillanosa prepared chicken in Gem’s crunchy chili sauce, and cheesy fish frita ala Gemma. Other finalists included Madonna Casisiempre, Gladys Magsombol, Inicris Delloso, and Cherry Mae Tiansing.
