Shop to support nature at Kultura Filipino

MANILA, Philippines - Kultura Filipino goes green by teaming up with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF-Philippines) with an exclusive line of shirts and bags to help protect the environment just in time for two major environmental celebrations — Earth Hour today, March 23, 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., and Earth Day in April.

Exclusively designed for Kultura Filipino, the line has trendy graphic shirts, statement tees made from 100 percent organic cotton, as well as stylish canvas eco bags.  Many of these feature WWF’s iconic Giant Panda mascot, which was inspired by the panda Chi Chi that was transferred from the Beijing Zoo to the London Zoo in the same year WWF was established. Sir Peter Scott designed the now world-famous logo from preliminary sketches made by a Scottish naturalist, Gerald Waterson.

The good news is that buying this merchandise helps build a future where Filipinos live in harmony and nature. Part of proceeds from the sales will go to WWF and help fund their marine, forest and water conservation, climate change solutions, and environmental education projects in the Philippines.

These include watershed management programs in Ilagan, Isabela; sustainable development and coastal rehabilitation programs at Hamilo Coast, Batangas; and coastal resource management programs in Apo and Tubbataha Reefs. It will also help community-based whale shark eco-tourism programs in Sorsogon, as well as turtle and coastal resource management programs for the turtles in Tawi Tawi. Climate change adaptation programs in Samal Island in Davao are also beneficiaries.

For the past 50 years, the WWF has been protecting the future of nature.  As the world’s leading conservation organization, WWF works in 100 countries and is supported by close to five million globally.  WWF’s unique way of working combines global reach with a foundation in science, involves action at every level from local to global, and ensures the delivery of innovative solutions that meet the needs of both people and nature.

Care, Conserve, and Contribute with the WWF collection available at Kultura Filipino at the SM Store in Makati.
