Aqua Boracay hosts KTA 2013

MANILA, Philippines - Boracay continues to draw millions of diverse crowds every year coming not only for its powder sand beaches and pristine waters but also for its nightlife and a wide variety of food establishments and sports-related activities that it offers. It was not surprising then that international travel magazine Travel + Leisure named Boracay as the “Best Island in the World” in 2012.

Aqua Boracay by Yoo, the first branded resort residence in Boracay located at Bulabog Beach, becomes home to the third stop of Kiteboard Tour Asia’s (KTA) kite-boarding event. The KTA is a melting pot for national riders from various countries across the globe. It provides Asian-born competitors an opportunity to showcase their own talents and abilities to international counterparts.

After kicking off in Indonesia and Thailand early this year, the tour then proceeds to Boracay in the Philippines from March 26 to 30 before going to China. These Asian events are organized by KTA under the patronage of International Kiteboarding Association, the worldwide governing body of kiteboarding, and International Class Association of the International Sailing Federation. Kiteboarding continues to grow in popularity as it welcomes over 250,000 participants from all over the world. It provides audiences with spectator-friendly beach events involving adrenaline-rushing boardspeeds of almost 100km/h, as well as spectacular jumps and wave riding stunts.

Jannicke Stav, who described Boracay as a “dreamlike Filipino island and tourist haven,” wrote in the NobileKiteboarding blog that KTA’s 3rd season managed to build a positive reputation among riders. “Experiencing hands-on positive vibes was probably what made Aqua Boracay announce that they want to be in it for the long run! On Bulabog beach, the KTA attitude and Filipino spirit come together for an event that has inclusion and friendliness written all over it,” expressed the Norwegian rider.

“Known for top class wind and kiting conditions, Boracay is regarded as Asia’s leading kite destination,” says Marco Biggiogero, founder and chairman of Aqua Boracay by Yoo. “We are delighted that Aqua Boracay by Yoo has been chosen by KTA as the official venue for kite-boarding competitions in the Philippines.  We look forward to welcoming competitors, spectators and sport enthusiasts at our exceptional resort.”

Nestled in a lush, verdant setting on stunning Bulabog Beach, the development offers the ultimate in “luxury island living” with a boutique beachfront resort that features world-class design, five-star luxury amenities and an ideal beachfront location. It is also perfectly situated on the island since it is just walking distance to White Beach and D’Mall, Boracay’s central shopping and commercial district. What’s more, the development is easily accessible from Kalibo and Boracay airports via local and international flights. Philippine carrier Cebu Pacific flies directly from Hong Kong at least three times a week.
