The power of Angono art

MANILA, Philippines - Fifty artists of Angono, Rizal — considered as the Arts Capital of the Philippines — have come together in an art exhibition on view until today at Nemiranda Art Café, the Blanco Family Museum and The Second Gallery in Angono, Rizal.

The exhibit titled “Bayanihan, A Convergence of Angono’s Art Expressions” will feature Adamat Jie, Francisco Aga, Jovert Aguila, Rodolfo Alcantara, Allan Alcantara, Dennis Almazar, Jovito “Bobet” Andres, Brenie Balagtas, Lito Balagtas, Aaron Bautista, Dino Blanco, Gayle Blanco, Glenn Blanco, Jan Blanco, Joy Blanco, Norman Blanco, Peter Paul Blanco, Boymata, Ricardo “Rading” Caringal, Joey Cenina, Eugenio Ces, Jerome Choco, Ember Chrisostomo, Chito De Borjia, Espiritu Ovidio III, Espiritu Ovidio Jr., Carlos “Totong” Francisco, Melanio Fuentes, Sarah Geneblazo, Cesar Hernadez, Salvador “Badong” Juban, Norbert “Ambhet” Lugtu, Keiye Miranda-Tuazon, Edwin Moreno, Adolfo “Boy” Natividad, Nemiranda, Eric Sausa, Noel Solis, Bernie Supsupin, Orville Tiamson, Wire Tuazon, Weng Unidad, Charlie Val, Alex Villaluz, Pepito Villaluz, Perdigon Vocalan, Rembrandt Vocalan and Chitoy Zapata present a wide selection of traditional realistic paintings, abstract and cutting-edge contemporary style will be on display.

Although the town has previously witnessed similar exhibitions, this will be the first time for all the active artists to collaborate as one group for the love of their hometown, Angono, which is celebrating its 74th Foundation Day this month.

The works of international artists Nino Quartana and Olivia d’Aboville will also be on display.

Opening ceremonies were held at the Villa Jhoana Resort, Ibanez Street, Barangay San Isidro, Angono, Rizal. The event, co-presented by footwear brand Ipanema, is made possible through the support of the Angono Municipal Government with the participation of the Cultural Department of the Italian Embassy in Manila.
