MANILA, Philippines - Sixteen of the country’s hottest performers and prominent celebrities top-billed by no other than the multi-talented Vic “Bossing” Sotto came together with San Miguel Brewery Inc. (SMB) officials, led by company chairman Ramon S. Ang and president Roberto N. Huang, in formally welcoming the most popular annual beer festival in the world.
Joining the Philippines’ no. 1 brewer in the grand kick-off party of this year’s San Miguel Oktoberfest Beer Festival were SMB beauties Sam Pinto and Isabelle Daza, world-class athlete endorsers Efren “Bata” Reyes and Django Bustamante; as well as members of the Philippine Azkals football team. The event is also made special with the presence of Department of Tourism Secretary Mon Jimenez, and Parañaque City local government officials led by Mayor Florencio “Jun” Bernabe and Vice Mayor Gus Tambunting.
The celebration, of course, was not complete without the trademark brand of entertainment of San Miguel Beer. SMB’s different beer tents featured the hottest musical acts in the country including The Dawn, Slapshock, Pepe Smith and Queenie Smith, Greyhoundz, Rocksteddy, Mayonnaise, Tanya Markova, Mocha Girls, Hatankaru, Light of Luna, Gloc 9, Dice & K9, Nyco Maka, Chilli Tees, and comedy duo Moymoy Palaboy, among others.
Huang said this year’s San Miguel Oktoberfest “Beer Festival” is a toast to the star of the celebration — our very own San Miguel Beer — which has always been a source of pride among the Filipinos since 1890.
To symbolize our national pride, a 30 ft.-tall pyramid made of around 1,200 beer mugs was unveiled. This megastructure covered an area of almost 200 square meters and is said to be the first and the biggest of its kind that was ever built for any Oktoberfest or any other festival anywhere in the world.
This beer pyramid also stands as a symbol of the goodness and freshness of San Miguel Beer. With its fast off take in the market, only SMB can guarantee the freshest and best-tasting beer in the country. The presence of San Miguel breweries in major areas of the Philippines also assures Filipino beer lovers that they can enjoy the freshness and great taste of their favorite San Miguel Beer brands anytime and anywhere.
“We put up the beer pyramid to remind all of us that our very own beer, San Miguel Beer, stands among the best in the world. We also dubbed this year’s festivity as San Miguel Oktoberfest Beer Festival because San Miguel Beer will be at the center of all the celebrations for this year’s Oktoberfest,” said Huang. He added that the beer pyramid was also put up to celebrate the familial bond that San Miguel Beer and the Filipinos continue to share through the years.
Huang refers to all the award-winning beer brands under the SMB portfolio — San Miguel Pale Pilsen, Red Horse Beer, San Mig Light, San Miguel Super Dry, Cerveza Negra, San Mig Strong Ice, San Miguel Premium All-Malt, and Gold Eagle Beer — which will all be made available in this year’s Oktoberfest. These brands have received the Gold Quality Award from the annual Monde Selection Awards, the world’s most prestigious organization that acknowledges the adherence of products to the highest international standards of taste and quality.
“We want our valued customers to experience the world-class quality and taste of all San Miguel Beer brands in all our Oktoberfest kick-off parties. Rarely do we see all these products available in one venue and get to enjoy them for as low as P10 per cup in a festival that’s packed with great entertainment ,” added Huang.
SMB will also offer its newest products — the San Miguel Alcoholic Malt Beverage in lemon and apple flavors, plus the limited edition San Miguel Oktoberfest Beer.
The San Miguel Oktoberfest Beer Festival ends its run at the Paseo de Sta. Rosa in Laguna on Oct 28.
Apart from the trademark Oktoberfest parties featuring the country’s top bands, SMB will also hold the 2nd Oktoberfest 9-Ball Open, the Tansankatutak crown collection promo and On-the-House raids to further reward and delight SMB patrons.
