When I see a white wall, I cannot help but remember how I was after my stroke. A stroke is a strange thing. It has no formula. Nobody can tell you how you will feel when you have a stroke. It all depends on how serious it is, which part of your brain gets blocked. Mine was a light stroke, I guess, though it certainly took me a long time to recover. I had it in September 2003. It’s only now that I can say with conviction that I am really well. Seven years of slow recovery and one year when things dropped quite quickly into place. That year I have to credit to StemEnhance.
What is the significance of the white wall? Before my stroke if you saw me staring blankly at a wall, you could be sure I was thinking or imagining what things I could do and when. You could tell my brain was active. After my stroke my mind was as blank as the wall. It held nothing. No memories. No ideas. No thoughts. No pictures. Nothing.
My neurologist told me that my stroke, which was in my right brain, had blocked my emotions. They would return in time, she said. One measure, I guessed, would be tears, if I could cry again, because I had stopped crying. From September 2003 to December 2009, six years, I remember crying only once – in October 2009 when I had to bring my mother to the hospital and did not know what would happen next. Her behavior then set my nerves on edge and when I found a nurse who would stay with her in the hospital I went home and sobbed alone for a whole hour. The emotion there was desperation. Two months later she died. I have not to this day cried over that.
But when I hugged my daughter Sarri and her son Julian good-bye, tears just flowed and I could not breathe. Seventy percent of me felt miserable but thirty percent was elated. I knew I was well, really over my stroke. I am finally normal now. When I look back I must marvel at StemEnhance that really did it for me.
StemEnhance is not a miracle pill. If you are normal when you start taking it, don’t expect anything to happen instantly. You take it and in a few days you realize you are feeling better, maybe lighter in spirit, you have more energy. If you are a recovering stroke victim soon things begin to clear. Your memory for example. My memory is much clearer now. I can remember what happened on November 15, 1957 and what I was wearing then. Before I began to take StemEnhance I could not remember that much of the past with so much clarity. Of course, I still have to spend a few minutes trying to remember what I did last night for two reasons. One, age, it nibbles at your short-term memory. Two, most likely I did not do anything exciting last night so why should I remember what TV show I watched and how sleepy it made me?
But StemEnhance has turned me into a real believer. It has made me lose girth. My body is slimmer now than it used to be. Remember, I put on 30 pounds in 2001 when I stopped smoking (after 40 years of regular smoking). I think I would breathe and the air would turn into fat. Of those 30 pounds I have lost 20 very slowly. But now – I went to a birthday party of a friend and his wife said I looked terrific. Everyone I see tells me I look terrific.
