Captain Planet saves water by showering with a friend (or two)!
(His Top-3 shower-buddies are: 1- Gaia; 2- Mother Earth; and 3- auditions ongoing.)
You too can do your part to save the world by showering with a friend. And there is no need to waste hot water, because you’ll be generating enough heat, naturally!
Just a few of the many benefits to having a shower-buddy (or two) are that you:
• Get cleaner - friends can help you scrub off the leftover body-paint, make-up, candy, dirt, and whatever else gets into those hard to reach places of yours.
[Fact: Many friends (aka Planeteers) were “doing their part” last week after all of the Halloween parties. This technique proved to be a good Trick and a great Treat! – True story.]
• Save water - for every minute you shorten your shower time, you can save as much as 25 liters of water. So, just because you’re using a shower-buddy doesn’t mean you can shower for twice as long. If things really start to get steamy, shut off the water!
• Save money – stick it to your water provider by lowering your water bills.
• For every __ liters you can save up to ___ pesos.
•Example: if you shorten your shower by _min , you can save up to _ pesos/month(year)
Save pesos and the planet!
• Party time – if you shower together before you go out for the night, it will take less time for you both (or all) to get ready; it will free up more time for you to spend with your barkada.
Even if you don’t have friends that are willing to be your shower-buddy and you have to shower alone (although, you’d be surprised how many people are game if you just muster up the courage to ask them) there are still things you can do to help save the planet:
• Do this: Install a low-flow showerhead that uses as little as five liters per minute (the water is aerated to give you the same feel of water volume, without the over-consumption). Compared to conventional showerheads (that use as much as 25 liters/min) you’ll save so much water that the investment will quickly pay for itself. Some even come with two adjustable showerheads, which can be used alone or together. Check out your local bath or hardware store for what’s available.
Tip: if you’re going to wait for the water to get hot, put a bucket below the faucet to catch the water and use this to make tabo, flush, water plants, or wash your car.
Hint: if you’re going to lather up – with soap, body wash, shampoo, or conditioner – try it this way: Get your whole body wet then shut off the water. Take your time while you generate some foam — scrubbing and rubbing, rubbing and scrubbing. Then turn on the water to rinse off.
Save water, shower with a friend. You’ll be clean and green!
Get a shower-buddy today. The power is yours!
Sincerely,
