Teeing off to year six

With the sun beaming gloriously on the fair-ways, it surely was a perfect day for the much-awaited 6th Chairman’s Cup held at the world-renowned, 18-hole, par 72 Fairways and Bluewater championship golf course in Newcoast, Boracay. Hardworking Chairman Noel "Toti" Cariño led the ceremonial tee off along with tournament director Geb Bilbao.

From over 100 golfers, Efren Capa emerged as overall champ, while Mats Elerud came out one point short, making him the overall first runner-up. Seasoned golfers, enthusiast, and friends who participated in this year’s tourney were Congressman Joeben Miraflores, Cong. Ricky Sandoval, Commission on Filipinos Overseas chairman Dante Ang Sr., MC Newcoast Resort Villatel Corp. president Jose Chung, Manila Times CEO Dante Francis Ang II, Beijing Xinbao Trade Co. principal Anthony Tan, Korean developer and Longest Drive awardee Lee Sang Cheul. Bighearted supporters of the event were San Miguel Corp., New Life, Shangri-La Hotel, Swing magazine, MRT Dev. Co., Asian Spirit, Readycon, Corporate Air Inc., Bingo Bonnanza, 105.1 Crossover, Aristocrat Interior, La Reserve, David Craft, The Turf Company, Wilson Sports, Inc., Boracaygolf.com, and The Bellevue Manila. All participants went home with the much coveted set of drivers, #4 and #5 "metal woods," encased in especially engraved Fairways and Bluewater leather mini golf bags.
