Glimpse of a dream wedding

It was indeed an enchanting evening at the Champagne Room of the Manila Hotel with chiffon drapes swinging by the entrance and captivating multihued flora painted all over – very nostalgic of my matrimony with my loving wife, Tere. After all, it was the unveiling of the bridal magazine called Wedding Essentials, the newest baby of former brides themselves Editor-in-Chief Marbee Shing-Go and Creative Director Cynthia Bauzon-Arre.

Published bi-annually, this full-colored, glossy magazine boasts an entire directory of wedding suppliers and a detailed wedding planner pull-out. It also contains tips and articles on wedding gowns, make-up, photographers, plus all other details a bride needs for her dream wedding.

The event was well-attended by estimable Malacañang Palace’s Senior Deputy Executive Secretary Waldo Flores, FCCP prexy Mellie Ablaza, Christina Romualdez, Christine Dayrit, Volvo’s Albert Arcilla, Denmark’s Little Maidens Marie Louise Martekilde and Marie Isabel Pedersen, and future brides Kitty Kierulf, Christine Aquino and Becky Garcia.

As though it was an actual wedding reception, guests were serenaded by a quartet and delighted with scrumptious cream of zucchini and spinach with smoked shrimp, Parmesan-crusted salmon and lamb fillet with port wine sauce and gingered saffron risotto cake, and baked alaska set with luscious strawberry and vanilla ice cream.

After the delightful meal, eight stunning ladies and two gentlemen paraded in elegant bridal gowns and crisp tuxedo creations of renowned couturiers Tippi Ocampo, Patrice Diaz Ramos, Pepsi Herrera, Edwin Tan and Lyle Ibañez.

What better way to cap the evening than a toast by the garden, initiated by WE President Oliver Kuy. Set on the backdrop was an extravagant display of pyrotechnics, which went on at least 15 minutes, leaving the guests enthralled by the never-before-seen spectacle.

As a memento of a dream wedding, each guest was given the maiden issue of Wedding Essentials and African violets specially flown in from Holland and wrapped like little nosegays.

Here’s to the creative team of Wedding Essentials that will surely spin dreams of future brides into reality!
