Nasugbu is usually associated with beautiful beaches, stately vacation homes, clean, cool crisp air and wide open spaces. That is great, especially for those people lucky enough to afford them; but in the case of the Evercrest Golf Club Resort, you get the Batulao Mountain view plus the wonderful opportunity of playing in a golf course designed by one of the worlds great golf icons, Arnold Palmer. At the same time, you enjoy a luxurious stay at the hotel where you are literally treated like a prince. All these without the necessity of spending millions from your savings.
Take for example one of the fantastic offers that they have. For only P3,500, one is treated to an overnight accommodation in a de luxe room, given a welcome drink and in addition to the breakfast for two (that is, if you bring your wife or if your wife brings you), you are also allowed one round of golf good for one person. If you are with a non- golfer, you can always invite your companion to make use of the Olympic sized swimming pool, or after a round of golf, both of you can enjoy this wonderful treat while breathing the pollution-free air.
Incidentally the facilities are great for weddings because of its convenient location. There is a beautiful church adjacent to the Club. The clubhouse restaurant becomes a wedding reception venue and there is a wonderful, get this my friends, honeymoon suite (no-no, two-way mirrors!) with the best outdoor view of the golf course and Mt. Batulao. Unfortunately, I cannot convince my three lady companions to try this specific facility with me, so I ended up just hitting balls I mean, golf balls, in this truly magnificent golf course!
Don Golden, one of the brilliant golf club managers is responsible for keeping the Evercrest Golf Course in its present pristine and world-class championship form. As I did the course, I was most impressed by the improvements. New Stair-walkways are now in place, which lead from greens to the next tees on Holes #2, #4, #5 and #8. Not only does this provide the golfers easy accessibility, it also avoids delays for the approaching golfers and safety to the players which now exit behind the greens.
A number of trees have been leveled, re-sodded and planted with Zoysia on par #4s and #5s and Evergreen strands on the par #3s. These grasses are more resistant to weeds and carabao grass infiltration, easier to maintain and divot recovery is much faster. Also rip-rap rock walls around greens are now covered with sod where shots are now playable up the cliffs edge. Grass mounds now appear around the base on most trees and provides safety from root surface growth. This measure also helps stabilize the trees from strong typhoon winds.
Two major crevices separate the front nine from the back except the par five 11th hole which winds downhill between two picturesque ravines. A hanging bridge allows the golfers to transverse one of the ravines to reach the par four #12th. One must take note before teeing off as every hole is different, with very few similarities in between. Evercrest is not "boring" as shot making is a prime requirement, but a number of holes do require the "long" ball. Don is to be congratulated for succeeding in this truly monumental and difficult task. Way to go Don!
Last but far from least is the harmony of animals, birds, trees and weather. It is second to none in providing an opportunity to cleanse ones lungs. Believe it or not, golf at Evercrest is really one of the very few courses throughout the region that boasts of "air-conditioned" fairways.
I have the great pleasure of showing you by pictures, some of the wonders of the Evercrest Golf Club Resort. Take a look, see and enjoy.
