Youngest Pinay participant wins ‘Best Dessert’ award in Hong Kong cooking competition

Chocolate Tart by Chef Louise Emmanuelle DG Mabulo bagged the Best in Dessert Award in the Asia Final of the 8th Disciples Escoffier Asia Young Talent Trophy (DEYTT) competition.

MANILA, Philippines - Sixteen-year-old Filipina Chef Louise Emmanuelle DG Mabulo won the Best Dessert category in the Asia Final of the 8th Disciples Escoffier Asia Young Talent Trophy (DEYTT) competition at Restaurant & Bar 2015 Show, the recognized leading competition for young Asian chefs.

Disciples Escoffier is a French association of top chefs dedicated to bequeathing their respective gastronomic legacies to the next generation.

DEYTT offers the opportunity for young chefs to pursue their dreams and is open to anyone under the age of 25 with a maximum of five years of kitchen experience.

The competition was participated in by seven other regional winners from Hong Kong, Macau, China, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand. Thailand’s representative won the competition by demonstrating exemplary culinary skills throughout the three-day contest.

The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong attended the opening ceremony of the competition and was represented by Consul Charles Andrei P. Macaspac. Consul Macaspac gave an inspirational message to Chef Mabulo.
