Champion swimmers get into the swim of summer

Speedo has always made it a habit to usher in the summer season, and its annual spring/summer fashion show this year was just as advertised!

Held a few months back at the Glorietta Activity Center, Speedo showcased a vivid array of multi-functional swimwear, beachwear, and accessories for its 2014 collection.

With the overall creative direction of “Evolution” this season, the designs and innovations reflected Speedo’s mission to go beyond expectations and perceived limitations as they aim to develop techniques and improve performance, whether for competition or just plain leisure.

At the heart of this is the Speedo Fit proposition with a focus on helping fitness swimmers to improve technique. Speedo Fit products are designed in line with a color and graphical inspiration of  “Code” with themes of interactive technology, deconstructed graphics, and man-made technology to create the understated look preferred by many who swim for fitness, while still offering a sense of modernity and function.

Making its debut are the new colors of LZR Racer Elite 2, the newest addition to the Speedo Fastskin Racing System. A revitalized LZR Racer Elite 2 was modeled by champion swimmers Jessie Lacuna, Charlie Walker, Ken Uy, Ariana Herranz, Hannah Dato, and Kim Uyas who opened the show.

They normally are at the end of the program, but this year, Speedo changed things up. It’s always a highlight for me when our athletes are given recognition, especially in a big event such as this one.

The aesthetics of Speedo’s competitive range was inspired by the theme of “Pulse,” which helps reflect the rush of adrenaline and highly charged movement with use of unexpected color and graphics.

Speedo’s Play and Fun range inspires beach lovers to “Get The Summer Feeling” with the collection’s mix of bright Aztec, abstract, floral prints in one-piece suits, bandeau tops, tankinis, and swim dresses.

The Speedo Health and Well-Being collection features a selection of new products and designs in the widely popular Speedo Sculpture range, featuring intelligent technologies and prints which visually shape and sculpt the body for a flattering look.

Lastly, the iconic Speedo Watershorts collection draws on the elements of Code, Pulse, Illusion, and Freestyle to provide an on-trend mix and match collection. Among the special guests were Speedo International’s regional business development manager Harry Singh, assistant product manager Wing Chow, Indian Ambassador Designate L.D. Ralte, Philippine Swimming Inc. president Mark Joseph, Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP) vice president Red Dumuk, ABS-CBN Publishing head Ernie Lopez, and Speedo Swim Fitness ambassadors Akiko Thomson-Guevara, Anthony Lozada, Guy Concepcion, Justin Junio, and Arnel Aba.

It’s a clear sign that summer is here!
