Talk about health and wellness, and the first things that pop into one’s mind are: regular exercise and proper healthy eating habits. They are twins and must go together. They are inseparable! Regular exercise, no doubt, has been proven, time and again, to give the heart that much-needed good workout. Exercise tones the muscles and stimulates the bones to help prevent osteoporosis. For those having difficulty in hitting the sack, so to speak, exercising in the afternoon, say 4 p.m. to early evening like 6 p.m., can help guarantee a sound and deep slumber
Zumba is a vigorous and super-fast dance exercise. Its beautiful and enticing accompanying music simply enthralls me. Our instructor, Rogie Suria, is really good — as he makes every step and movement easy as though we were merely playing while dancing and exercising. It takes three medium towels to wipe off my sweat during the Zumba class. That’s how much perspiration we get, as well as inspiration. I always eagerly look forward to Saturday mornings for this class. Ah! the joys and good feelings that dancing exercise do to the body!
My Zumba mates must be wondering about my clapping because I am the only one in the class who claps in between when Rogie, our instructor, changes the music, or tones down the sound. I always seize the opportunity to clap the LYoga way — it gives me energy, vitality, and strength to finish the Zumba class, and relish each movement and every step we do con mucho gusto. I want to share with my Zumba mates the benefits of LYoga clapping so they, too, will be energized and revitalized. When we do LYoga clap, some acupressure points are touched on the palms, sending the flow of energy to our body faster.
When asked by some friends how I keep pace with the fast tempo of Zumba, considering the young-and-energetic Zumba mates I have in the class, I laughingly tell them my long-proven-and-tested secret: the energy-and-vitality- producing Laughter Yoga clapping! Hoho, hahaha!
Then I narrate my cannot-be-forgotten experience when I watched the Josh Groban show at the PICC. I and my friends parked quite far from the venue, as the nearby parking spaces were full, and since we were almost late for the show, we alternately walked fast and ran to reach the venue. Upon sitting, I felt soooo tired, hungry, and sleepy as I had a long day, but could not do the LYoga clapping yet. Whenever the crowd applauded Mr. Groban, I would do my own way of clapping. I must have overdone it and got so energized — as I stayed awake long after the concert was over! From that time on, I resort to LYoga clap whenever I need a revitalizing spring.
Exercise is a must if we want to be healthy and happy. Even positive, as it clears the cobwebs in our minds. It drives away into the thin air all negative thoughts and ill feelings trapped in our hearts and minds. It keeps and makes our bodies fit, our minds sharp, and our disposition happy. One can only imagine how invigorating Zumba is — if we incorporate Laughter Yoga clap into it — which I regularly do. Laugh and clap the Laughter Yoga way for a healthy, happy, positive journey ahead!
