Solar bottle bulbs: A bright idea

MANILA, Philippines - Zonrox, the household name in bleach, has partnered with MyShelter Foundation in A Liter of Light Project, a nationwide initiative that aims to light up a million homes in the Philippines by 2012.  The project provides lighting for less fortunate households by using soda plastic bottles, corrugated sheets, and a solution of water and Zonrox Bleach. The bottles are placed in the roofs of homes to reflect and spread sunlight throughout a room.  Zonrox Bleach, having disinfecting properties, prevents the build-up of algae in the water, providing clear light lasting for up to 10 years. Both Zonrox Bleach and MyShelter Foundation share the belief that access to light is critical for families to improve their quality of life.  Last November 30, Zonrox Bleach joined MyShelter Foundation and other civic groups in distributing the solar bottle bulbs to 10,000 homes in 30 communities in Metro Manila.
