Tagaytay Highlands gives hope and compassion to PWDs

MANILA, Philippines - The Tagaytay Highlands with its breathtaking sights and alluring cool climate is not only home to privileged people. Its doors are also open to people who deserve the once-in-a-lifetime experience of being pampered by nature’s soothing serenity while enjoying priceless leisure moments with friends and families like the special persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Tagaytay Highlands, together with Barangay San Lorenzo’s Persons with Disabilities and Co. (BSL PerDisCo) organized an educational field trip to Tagaytay Highlands last July 23 as part of the celebration of this year’s National Disabilities Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week. Thanks to this initiative, PWDs, along with their families and peers, had the chance to experience tree planting, horseback riding, and fishing, among other activities.

Members of Barangay San Lorenzo PerDisCo could not contain their joy as they toured the Highlands and enjoyed the horseback ride around the bullring. A round at the fishing pier likewise provided precious bonding moments between parents and the special children.

Tagaytay Highlands general manager Claire Kramer, founder Willy N. Ocier, Tagaytay Highlands Club president Jerry Tiu, and board directors Hans Sy and Shirley Ong welcomed their special visitors. The visit prompted the club’s OIC for spiritual affairs, Henry N. Ocier, to ensure that the plan to make all buildings and facilities of the club PWD-friendly becomes a reality.

True to its social responsibility, Tagaytay Highlands and SM recently conducted a seminar entitled “Strengthening our Commitment to Customer Service and Promoting a Non-Handicapping Environment for Persons with Disabilities” for all club employees.
