Kids get learning edge with the best dictionary

MANILA, Philippines - Parents will do anything to make sure their child is given the advantage in learning. And one of the best tools a parent can provide a learning child or teen is an electronic dictionary.

With the advent of modern gadgets and the accessibility of the Internet these days, kids and teens have all the information at their disposal. However, technology has its pros and cons. At the proper hand, it can open a world of wonders and learning. But if left unguarded, information on the Net can be detrimental to the learning process. That’s why, tech-savvy moms are now extra cautious when their children go online especially during a school week.

“Kids get tempted to visit Facebook, Youtube or browse other sites when going online to look for the meaning of words. With the Franklin E-dictionary, they get what they need instantly even without going online. And even if there are online dictionaries, they don’t have a phonetic spell correction feature which is very useful for my kids,” says Joji Tan, mom to Jamie (already working), and students Agnes, 19, and Anjelina, 12.

Joji, who is into the food ingredients business, is a busy mom, but she makes sure that she is hands-on when it comes to the welfare of her children. “The Franklin E-dictionary is a big help for a busy businesswoman mom. My children get to learn independently and do not need tutors. Because of its features, doing school reports and reading technical books for a lesson the next day are easier since they can get help with word meanings and correct spelling,” she reveals.

Joji is convinced that the Franklin E-dictionary suits her family due to its phonetic spell correction, which can’t be found in free dictionaries on the Internet, iPad, and iPhone. “The feature is useful especially for my youngest child. Since she’s unfamiliar with some words she hears in class, all she has to do is type the word according to how she heard it and the correct spelling and definition will instantly flash on the screen.”

The Franklin MWD1500 E-dictionary has over 300,000 definitions and 500,000 synonyms registered in its data base, including new words coined during the technology era.

The businesswoman mom herself is also impressed with the Franklin E-dictionary since it also useful to her business: “The features come very handy especially when I draft business papers such as sales reports, business letters, etc.”

With the learning advantage, Joji is more confident knowing that her kids are getting an upper hand courtesy of the Franklin E-dictionary.

She happily adds, “Now that my kids have found a suitable study habit as well as a useful gadget to help them with what they need, we can spend more of our free time doing family and bonding activities.”
