Special parents' dreams

MANILA, Philippines - Parents dream big dreams for their children. They aim to provide only the best resources to help their children realize all their ambitions in life. Like most other parents, parents of special children have big dreams for their children. They, too, will do just about anything to help their children become what they want to be.

What better way to celebrate the love month than for Center for Possibilities, Inc. to invite Nenita V. Lucas, program director of Reach International School, and her son Lorenzo, who has been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD), to share their special experience.

“When my child was born, I was engulfed with sadness and fear. At first, I had a hard time raising him because he had different and special needs. All I could think of was what will the future hold for him?” Nenita shares.

Today, Nenita is the proud mother of Lorenzo, a college graduate, a track and field coach, consistent placer in track and field national competitions, 1000th Club Member Scripture Memorization, recipient of a Christian leadership award, and a university exchange student in Korea.

Tomorrow, Feb. 23, from 4 to 6 p.m., at Reach International School, Nenita will share her experience and insights on raising a special child, how she was able to conquer her fears of being a special parent; and how she successfully raised a good man. Lorenzo will talk about how he was able to rise above his disability and special needs. Their synergy will surely inspire parents to love their special children more and help them rise above their special challenges.
