MANILA, Philippines – The world’s largest social media network just made connecting with people more fun and more interesting through its app called ‘Rooms.’

Launched on Thursday, ‘Rooms’ lets you create a chat room community for the things you are interested in - kickboxing, cooking, gardening and painting - and invite others who share the same interests.

The chat rooms are invite-only and require a special code that can be scanned with your phone’s camera. It is an app entirely separated from Facebook, therefore you are not forced to give any private details like your location and your name, so you may post anonymously or use pseudonyms for security purposes.

To make the fun even more personal, stylish and fun to use, the app is highly customizable with the ability to change text, emoji, cover photos, colors and chat room name.

The primary goal of the app is to empower people. According to the release:

Our initial focus is on working closely with a small set of community builders. From talking with founders of successful communities, we’ve learned that many of the most successful communities on the internet grew very slowly.

The app is now available on the App Store.
