I checked into the Makati Shangri-La Hotel two weeks ago. I was promised that an attractive companion would be waiting for me in the room with the assurance I would be entertained, delighted and given a peak experience. I couldn’t wait. Despite the anticipation, I deliberately walked slowly down the corridor to prepare myself for what was to come.
When I got inside the room, there she was in her full ravishing glory. I was speechless! How could I say anything when I was drooling! Yes! There standing before me unboxed was the Samsung Curve UHD TV.
The UA65HU9000 with a 65-inch screen was on a table with marvelous speakers all around. Before I turned it on, I gave it a thorough look up and down, side to side. I immediately noticed the curve of the screen. Connected to the TV was a Blu-Ray player and a hard disk full of movies to watch.
I turned the television on with the remote, chose trailers of movies I had seen before and soaked in the experience.
A 65-inch TV screen is huge, actually. UHD means Ultra High Definition and it is not just some marketing gimmick. UHD has four times more pixels than the regular HD we are used to. This means picture clarity like you’ve never experienced — I am speaking literally. It has the clearest image I have even seen on a TV screen.
The main story and selling point here is the curve of the screen. What does it actually do that regular flat screens cannot?
I was watching excerpts from The Life of Pi, the part where the tiny boat Pi was sharing with the tiger was overwhelmed by flying fish. The scene was not only super clear, it felt like I was really up close to it. The curve actually draws you into the picture. The picture has much greater depth. The ocean seems wider, more expansive. It gives you the feeling that there is infinitely more to see, and it’s all because of the curve. Surely, the built-in Auto Depth Enhancer was one of the tech features that was making all this possible.
Aside from the trailers, I also watched two documentaries. One was about how climate change is affecting the oceans and another was the geographic story of the lakes in the Grand Canyon. It was so engaging to watch nature’s drama playing out in UHD picture clarity. It is postcard clear and pretty.
Samsung’s new televisions are built to be upgradeable so that you don’t have to keep changing televisions every year to enjoy the latest technology add-ons. At the back of the TV, you can simply attach what they call an Evolution Kit that will upgrade today’s TV with whatever they come up with next year. Every TV can be upgraded for at least four years, which means you don’t have to change your TV just to have the latest. Nor should you delay waiting for next year to get a premium television like the Curve UHD TV. Your purchase will be a top-of-the-line television for the next few years.
The Samsung Curve UHD TV is also Wi-Fi ready, which means you can enjoy not just the many channels that your cable service offers. Throw in Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Skype, email, etc., plus Samsung’s many exclusive add-on channels. They call this “smart content.”
And here’s a biggie: you can set aside the remote and control the television with voice, hands and facial expressions, which are picked up by a built-in camera.
The Samsung Curve UHD TV is the state-of-the-art when it comes to television these days. Its quadcore processor means there will be no lag in delivering the images to you.
These days, the cinema industry is already changing the way it makes movies. With the ultra-high-definition that the Samsung Curved TV is capable of, the makeup, and the movie images have to be adjusted to look flawless. Viewers on UHD can actually notice the imperfections of movie makeup and the haphazardly assembled sets. Even with just plain HD, one can see unshaved white whiskers on a male artists on the screen.
What more with the Samsung Curved UHD TV? As more content is made in HD, you will be ahead of the curve with UHD. You will always have the best viewing experience watching on the clearest, widest, curved screen.
There are two models to choose from: The UA65HU9000 — 65-inch Curved UHD TV with SRP of P269,910 and the UA55HU9000, a 55-inch Curved UHD TV with SRP of P197,910.
