The ‘Bull Runner’ dream marathon: Not just about speed

MANILA, Philippines - If a professional runner or a marathon enthusiast joins races to compete for speed, The “Bull Runner Dream (TBR) Dream Marathon’s main goal is different. According to its founder Jaymie Pizarro, their primary mission is to change people’s lives through running.

Now on its fourth year, TBR Dream Marathon is a 42K distance race and the only marathon in the world designed for beginners. TBR Dream Marathon guides participants from day one of their training until finish line of their first 42K. Jaymie, a Sun Broadband endorser and the running champ also known as “The Bull Runner,” says they encourage new marathoners to learn to love and enjoy running, more than thinking of it as a competition.

Sun Broadband is co-sponsoring the The Bull Runner Dream marathon. Like TBRDM’s main goal, Sun Broadband Wireless (SBW) is more than just speed as this wireless internet service also provides users consistent and reliable online connectivity right where they want it, anywhere they need it.

The 22-week training for the future marathoners started last Sept. 17 along with free running clinics called Bull Sessions and free running talks called  Bull Circles. Training will culminate on race day, Feb. 24, at Nuvali. Participants joining this year’s TBR Dream Marathon have already reached 750 and Sun Broadband is running with Jaymie and TBR DM along the way.

In joining TBR DM, change can be physical such that a runner gains stronger endurance, or emotional when he or she feels more powerful and more independent. So she thought of putting up the race together with Coach Jim Lafferty who is also a running enthusiast and encourages people to do marathon. Since the two share the same advocacy, TBR DM was born in 2010.

Jaymie explains that what makes her and her team feel good and fulfilled is that each time they see one of the runners cross the finish line, they know that they help create a change in that person.

Jaymie with TBR DM and Sun Broadband run  together. They run for the same reasons, not just to compete, but more importantly, to provide change and create a positive impact on people’s lives.
