MANILA, Philippines - PLDT-SME Nation recently transformed the metro’s most happening venue into Halloween town complete with a hodgepodge of Philippine folklore’s scariest creatures for the grand re-launch of its “nakakakilabot sa bilis” PLDT myDSL Biz.
More than a thousand guests turned up in their spookiest manananggal, kapre, duwende, and white lady costumes and filled up the massive venue. The guests were no less than Metro Manila’s small and medium business owners who went to party with the country’s leading provider of broadband internet access.
“PLDT myDSL Biz has transformed from just being a high-speed broadband internet into being the next biggest solution to the connectivity needs of the country’s growing small and medium enterprises (SMEs),” said PLDT-SME Nation vice president and head Kat Luna-Abelarde. “The PLDT myDSL Biz is part of PLDT-SME Nation’s thrust of providing SMEs the latest and most effective business solutions in helping them grow their business.”
Event hosts Joey Mead and Borgy Manotoc both came garbed in their most wicked Halloween getups. Cemetery tombstones, spooky dining sets, and haunted forests, meanwhile, served as the backdrop for computer stations where guests could try myDSL Biz hands-on.
The highlight of the night, though, was the plugging in of a larger-than-life model of the PLDT myDSL Biz Box by no less than PLDT chairman Manny V. Pangilinan and PLDT president and Smart CEO Napoleon Nazareno.
Endless prizes were raffled off while SMEs got a chance to take home and experience the high-speed offering of the myDSL Biz. One-year free subscription Powerpack packages were given away to six lucky SMEs complete with the bundled desktops and laptops.
Creative Media and Film Society of the Philippines (CreaM) president Imee Marcos was also on hand to hand out the awards to the entries in the Film, Fashion, and Graphic Animation categories depicting the Pinoy culture going digitally global with PLDT myDSL Biz. Bagging first place in the Best Horror Film category was Nico Fernandez with his film entry Iniwan while Mike Galvez topped the Graphic Design competition with “Online Mangkukulam.”
The PLDT myDSL Biz packages come with high-speed internet connection and peripheral hardware like PCs and a laptop. Along with the package is the new Biz Box, an all-in-one modem device that provides broadband link for any SME’s wired and wirelss networking application needs. The box comes complete with a DSL modem, Wi-Fi router, four Ethernet ports, two voice ports, and two USB ports.
“With the inclusion of the Biz Box in the myDSL Biz packages, SMEs not only get competitive high-speed connection but a reliable all-in-one router capable of efficiently running the bundled peripherals,” says PLDT-SME Nation marketing head Amil Azurin.
The Biz Box is already a wireless LAN router so there’s no need to purchase a wireless or fixed line router for businesses’s networking requirements.
“The entirety of the packages reduces costs to businesses potentially giving more revenues and widening any entrepreneur’s reach to a global scale,” says Azurin. “We’re not just talking about speed. The PLDT myDSL Biz packages show how you can streamline your operations while lowering your cost.”
The new myDSL Biz now comes with an improved networking capability through the new biz box modem packing four ports and wireless capability. Its improved speed can also provide net speeds of up to 8mbps through the powerpack packages which is now more affordable for SMEs.
Entrepreneurs can also get up to five free computers as they avail of PLDT myDSL Biz. These desktops and laptops can be used by SMEs to automate their business and connect them through the high speeds of myDSL Biz.
The myDSL Biz packages start with the Small Biz Lite with 3.5mbps for only P4,000, Jr. with 4.5mbps at P8,000, and Sr. with 5mbps at P14,500.
