Hit parade

MANILA, Philippines -The year 2010 was a big one for Collezione-C2. The innovative clothing brand made waves with its globally relevant fashion that incorporates a distinctive Filipino flair. Here, we count down Collezione-C2’s greatest hits.

Fashionalism

Fuses fashion and nationalism. This is what the idea of Collezione-C2’s signature style rests on. The call for patriotism is not new, but its resurgence æ and with it, the redux of the Pinoy pride movement æ can be largely attributed to the way “fashionalism” has turned this concept into a tangible form. “Fashionalism” uses fashion and art’s aesthetic appeal and influence as take-off points to reinvent an old idea, making it hip and relevant to today’s generation.

My Pilipinas Crocs

MyPilipinas Phenomenon

Collezione-C2 strikes a balance between what international retail labels want, and that significant emotional connection to country via MyPilipinas, the collection that gave rise to the phenomenal “Map” shirts. The brainchild of creative director Rhett Eala, MyPilipinas largely contributed to the resurgence of patriotism and strengthening of the Filipino identity.

Who wore them in 2010? Everyone! From celebrities to campaigning politicians, Pinoys here and abroad, wearing the shirts has become an expression of love for country and a visual statement of Filipino pride.

Can’t get enough of MyPilipinas? International brands like legendary journal brand Moleskine and footwear brand Crocs now offer limited-edition products that carry the signature MyPilipinas design.

Pinoy pride makes its way into sports

The patriotic fever even made its way into the sport of kings. Teams that competed at the Manila Polo Club’s annual President’s Cup donned brand-new uniforms featuring the famous Map design.

Flag Raising

After the Map came another fashionalistic must-have: the “Flag” collection incorporates the colors and design of the national emblem, with either the Philippine map or flag emblazoned on the chest. It took off from its wildly popular predecessors — seen on ABS-CBN reporters during coverage of the recent elections.

Universal appeal: Beauty queen Venus Raj with Collezione-C2 creative director Rhett Eala at his 20th anniversary celebration

CELBRATING 20 YEARS IN FASHION

With the President of the Philippines as guest of honor, acclaimed fashion designer and Collezione-C2 creative director Rhett Eala celebrated his 20th year in the industry with an anniversary fashion show and a partnership between two prominent labels (Jewelmer and Collezione-C2), both avid champions of homegrown talent.

After all that’s transpired this year, it’s exciting to think of what else Collezione-C2 has in store for its customers. With such a positive vision for local fashion, this is a brand that will continue to innovate, surprise, and astound — and always with the Filipino in mind.
