Stretch your limits

MANILA, Philippines -  Not just another fun run, CamSur hosts Summit Water Camsur Marathon 2010: Race to Rebuild the Nation to champion sports tourism on Sept. 26.

The 3K, 5K, 10K, 21K and 42K race starts at world-renowned sports destination, Camsur Watersports Complex (CWC), passes through several towns before opening up to spectacular mountain views and scenery. “Our secret hideaways await your discovery and we are certain that you will want to explore the nooks and crannies of fascinating Camsur,” says Camsur Gov. Lray Villafuerte.

Joining the marathon are some of the world’s most prolific runners. Plus, with a total cash prize of $50,000 or P2.3M, the biggest ever in the Philippines, every drop of sweat is worth it!

The marathon will mainly benefit Gawad Kalinga, a nation-building organization founded by Tony Meloto that builds houses for poor communities and aims to empower poverty-stricken Filipinos through dignity restoration and values transformation. This marathon is also for the benefit of the Organ Donor Card awareness drive and the K.I.D.S Foundation.

One of the highlights of the CamSur Marathon 2010 is the Gawad Kalinga “Bayanihan Run” category. Here, you can race in a team of 15 and commit to pledge to raise funds to build GK communities for the poorest of the poor. Until Sept. 24, teams can help raise funds for the Cause of the Poor with a minimum of one house to building an entire Legacy Village.

Camsur Marathon 2010 is presented by Summit Water and is co-presented by Smart Communications, Timex, 100 Plus, Alaska, Nature Valley, Dusit Thani and the Department of Tourism. Media partners include ESPN, Solar Sports and The Philippine STAR.
