Bangus festival puts Glad non-stick foil to the test

MANILA, Philippines - The Dagupan Bangus Festival pays homage to the province’s coveted milkfish variety that owes its superior taste and quality to the environment where the fish are grown, and to the techniques and care utilized by growers.

For Dagupeños, grilling is considered the best method of bringing out the fish meat’s flavor. In fact, a public grilling activity is one of the most anticipated highlights of the annual bangus festival, where both locals and tourists alike converge in the streets and participate in the merriment of cooking bangus and turning them over hot coals.

These grill experts also know first-hand that one of the undesirable experiences of grilling is the mess and hassle of delicate fish skin sticking to the grill. Some resort to wrapping the fish in ordinary aluminum foil, but the skin is still prone to sticking to the foil’s surface.

Glad, the trusted brand in food protection and kitchen management, solves this perennial problem and brings a pleasant surprise to this year’s bangus festival with the introduction of its latest innovation — the Glad Non-stick Aluminum Foil.

“Consumers say that one of their frustrations with using foil during cooking is that it sticks to the food, resulting in waste and messes. When grilling fish, the skin usually sticks to the foil or the griller,” explains Glad marketing director Tisha de Veyra. “But with new Glad Non-stick Aluminum Foil, the fish comes out whole and the skin stays intact.”

Participants in the recently held 2014 Dagupan Bangus Festival experienced for themselves the reliable and fool-proof ability of Glad Non-stick Aluminum Foil to prevent bangus skin from sticking, thereby preserving not only the fish meat’s flavor but its appetizing appearance as well.

“Using the product is easy and simple,” says De Veyra. Simply place the food on the dull side of the foil, which is the specially coated non-stick side, and use just like any ordinary aluminium foil.

“Magic!” is how grillers simply described the quick and easy experience of cooking their favorite bangus wrapped in Glad Non-stick Aluminum Foil. “Ang galing naman, di dumidikit. (How great, it doesn’t stick),” other users commented on how the delicate fish skin does not stick to the foil or to the grill.

These are just some of the positive reactions from among the approximately 2,000 foodies who joined the six-hour grill fest held along the stretch of De Venecia Road in Dagupan City. Around 800 rolls of Glad Non-stick Aluminum Foil was used and distributed to participants, providing festival-goers the opportunity to experience at home the wonders of the innovative new product.

Glad Non-stick Aluminum Foil is now available in major supermarkets nationwide.
