If your palate fell in love with Modern Shanghai’s Shanghainese cuisine, get ready to be further enamored with the restaurant’s new set menus. These savory specials will keep you asking for more.
Modern Shanghai spreads out a variety of Lunch Set Menus that can be enjoyed from Mondays to Fridays. The Deep Fried Pork Ribs Set (P388) is for those who love juicy pork cutlets marinated so well the taste comes through with the garlic coming. The delicious and widely popular Sweet and Sour Chicken (P348), meanwhile, has chicken tenderloins in a tangy and tart sauce. Other great choices are the Beef Scallions Lunch Set (P298) and Deep-Fried Squid (P388), Deep-fried Fish (P298) and Egg White with Fish (P348) for those partial to fish and seafood.
All six Lunch Sets come with a bowl of Fried Egg Rice, an order of dumplings and a plate of vegetables to complete the meal.
Still topping the list of Modern Shanghai’s bestsellers are the signature Xiao Long Bao, Wok-fried Beef with Broccoli, Deep Fried Garoupa, “Tung-Bor†Style Braised Pork Belly and Shanghai Fried Noodles among others.
The restaurant’s interiors are a visual nod to the golden era of this coastal city where many of the cuisine’s dishes were born. Award-winning interior designer Steve Leung incorporates references to Shanghai’s glorious past, including a half open kitchen by the entrance where diners can peek at cooks preparing various dishes.
