Vodka and chocolates for V-Day

MANILA, Philippines - Couples in love celebrate Valentine’s Day with candlelight dinners over wine or cocktails, red roses and chocolates. Many spirits such as vodka enhance the flavor of foods, giving that extra kick to sauces, grilled meat, and most especially desserts.

Chocolate and vodka seemingly go well together, as there are a number of recipes that combine the two in a delicious dessert. Both chocolate and vodka are known aphrodisiacs, making them a favorite Valentine treat.

While Antonov Vodka can either be enjoyed mixed or just straight up a la carte, it can also be paired together with food and desserts.

“You don’t have to be a food connoisseur or a liquor expert to come up with exciting pairings. Just think about association of flavors,” says celebrity chef Hasset Go, owner of MedChef Cakes, Pastries and Desserts. “As with cooking, you have to pair flavors that will complement a particular dish. Vodka can complement a dish or desserts like chocolates by either matching or contrasting its flavors. You don’t want the flavors fighting each other,” he advises.

Chef Hasset suggests that if you’re drinking a sweet or flavored vodka, you need a chocolate with some fruity notes of its own. But there are really no rules, he says.  All that matters is that a pairing works.

With Antonov Vodka, you can have a variety of choices that will complement every dish or dessert. There’s Antonov Vodka Classic, which can be taken either neat or mixed; Antonov Vodka Schnapps Espresso, pure vodka with a shot of espresso; and Antonov Vodka Schnapps Currant, the unique flavor of currant mixed into clear vodka.

Add a flavorful twist to your dinner date with Antonov Vodka Mixed Drinks available in Apple, Ice, Mandarin Orange, Ginger Ale, Kamikaze and Cosmopolitan flavors. Its easy-pull cap feature makes it a convenient drink to bring wherever you plan to celebrate Valentine’s.
