MANILA, Philippines - Why stop with one flavor when you can combine two? Pinoys love savory dishes. This is evident in the way we tweak tried and tested recipes just to come up with exciting flavors that deliciously burst in the mouth. Some want their adobo salty, sour and garlicky, while others crave something sweet and spicy. For spaghetti, we opt for the tamis-anghang sauce with lots of meat and cheese in it, a concoction that would definitely make our Italian friends cringe.
Inspired by Pinoys’ penchant for the perfect blend of flavors, KFC recently launched a new chicken variant that the local market will surely enjoy.
“As they say, ‘ two’s company and three’s a crowd.’ Well, not for KFC. For the first time since the launch of the Original and Hot and Crispy, KFC introduces a brand-new chicken flavor in the Philippines that’s loaded with flavor,” enthuses Natalie “Lee” Perez, marketing director of KFC Philippines.
Building on everyone’s favorite chicken, KFC combined two familiar flavors — chili and lime — for an unlikely combination that tastes oh, so good.
Bold, refreshing and exciting best describe this new chicken variant. It’s a fusion of spicy and zesty flavors in one refreshing bite. The Chili Lime Chicken is marinated in special chili-lime spices, then breaded and deep-fried for a crispy bite and sprinkled with a dose of chili-lime powder for that added layer of flavor. It’s so flavorful you’ll enjoy it as is. Yes, even without rice and gravy.
“We took familiar flavors into this dish,” notes Lee. “It might be a different combination but when you combine the two (chili and lime), the flavors complement each other. It’s something that the Hot & Spicy Chicken fans will love. The consumers were actually the ones who wanted this flavor.”
Prior to its launch, KFC conducted a survey among its Facebook fans and regular clients as to what chicken flavors they’d love to
indulge in. Aside from barbecue and cheese, chili with lime topped the list.
“At KFC, we take our customers seriously. We want to offer them something new once in a while to excite their palates. Besides, we always wanted to come up with a third chicken variant for KFC. I’m confident that Filipinos are ready for this,” explains Lee.
Another promo was launched on the popular social networking site as soon as KFC decided on the new flavor. This time, KFC asked its “friends” to guess the new variant by putting their answers as their Facebook status and tagging KFC Philippines on their wall. Participants with the most creative answers were invited to take the first bite of the KFC Chili Lime during its launch last Tuesday at Blue Leaf’s Events Pavilion in McKinley Hill Village, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig.
Hosted by Chico and Delamar of RX 93.1, guests were entertained with fun games and activities while enjoying first dibs on KFC’s mouthwatering Chili Lime.
