RP Pastry Alliance off to Singapore

MANILA, Philippines - Riding high on the lessons and experiences gained from their successful representations in Hong Kong and Bangkok in 2008-2009, the Pastry Alliance of the Philippines (PAP) is once again hot in preparations for yet another competition. Actually, two competitions. 

Billed as the largest trade show in Asia, Singapore’s biannual Food and Hotel Asia (FHA) is also host to one of the most prestigious culinary events in the region. From April 20 to 23, the Singapore Expo will simultaneously present the FHA and Asian Pastry Cup (APC). 

 At the FHA, numerous team and individual categories will challenge the industry’s best of the best.  PAP’s roster of professionals, instructors and students is fielding talents in wedding cake, pastry showpiece, plated desserts, dress-the-cake and chocolate pralines.  As the show’s highlight, the APC requires two-member national contingents to prepare two chocolate cakes, 18 plated desserts, a sugar showpiece and a chocolate showpiece live within eight hours. Winners head on to Lyon, France to battle it out with the top artisans from all over the world in 2011.
