E-wallets are now an essential part of our day-to-day lives. It’s fast, safe and convenient and available to everyone. In short, “finance for all,” palanggas. This is the vision behind the second annual “One with the Nation” conference of GCash, the leading fintech company in the country.
This year’s GCash’s conference is bigger and better. It was held at Seda Hotel in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, and simultaneously streamed online via Zoom.
The theme, “Innovative and Inclusive: The Future of Digital Financial Services,” also gave the audience a chance to hear from powerful speakers like Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Felipe Medalla, who discussed the importance of digital payment adoption in fostering economic growth.
Joining Medalla are Trade and Industry Assistant Secretary Mary Jean Pacheco and Commission on Audit information technology director Atty. Marlon Marquina, who shared insights on the future of digital financial services towards a more financially inclusive country, with a strong push on economic growth.
GCash president and CEO Martha Sazon, together with GCash chief customer officer Winsley Royce Bangit and chief commercial officer Oscar Enrico Reyes Jr., highlighted key developments and updates in the rapidly growing duacorn (having reached “double unicorn” status after it raised $300 million, bringing its total valuation to over $2 billion), with already a staggering record of 66 million registered users to date. Surely, GCash makes sure that no Filipino gets left behind for a better financial future, palanggas!
“At GCash, we continuously strive to make meaningful innovations with our products and services to better serve Filipinos and achieve our vision of ‘Finance for All.’ Together with our esteemed partners from the government, we aim to leave no one behind without access to digital financial services,” Sazon emphasized.
To make the conference even more informative, it also touched on super important and relevant topics on economic growth and financial inclusion such as “Enabling Economic Growth through Digital Payments Innovations,” “Reinforcing Growth through Digital Payments Adoption,” “Understanding the Guidelines on eCollection and ePayments,” “Promoting Inclusive Finance within Local Government Units through the Paleng-QR Ph Program,” and “Promoting Convenient and Safe Online Payments through the eBayad Mo!” program.
At a time when we need it the most, strong partnerships between the fintech sector just like GCash with public and private sectors are, indeed, a big win for economic growth and financial inclusion!

Championing sustainability in the health sector
Palanggas, the country’s health sector is looking bright and promising as Zuellig Pharma, Asia’s leading healthcare services provider, strives to champion four key areas: improve health outcomes, nurture talent, set the highest standards of integrity, and respect the environment.
As part of its vision, the company recently launched its community tree-planting program CommuniTree at the company’s National Distribution Center in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
The CommuniTree program is in partnership with the City Government of Sta. Rosa, Laguna, and Johnson & Johnson Philippines.
The launch was attended by Mayor Arlene Arcillas of Sta. Rosa, Laguna, and city environment officer Amor Salandanan. The aim of the program is to foster Zuellig Pharma’s commitment to communities and its areas of operations by planting endemic tree species nationwide. The company intends to further conduct education and grassroots campaigns to promote environmental stewardship as bedrock for a healthy citizenry and replicate the program in its various facilities all over the Philippines.
Zuellig Pharma employees volunteered for the tree-planting program as part of the company’s 100th year local celebration. Leaders and colleagues from J&J Philippines also joined the well-planned program launch.
Likewise, Zuellig Pharma distribution centers at Canlubang and Sta. Rosa are equipped with solar panels, which produce 120,000KW of renewable energy every month — the equivalent to 100 tons of carbon dioxide emission from fossil fuels. The centers are also built with Intelligent Lighting System, which is one of the most advanced lighting and energy management systems in the market today.
In addition, Zuellig Pharma will implement a program to use more environment-friendly packaging and invest in cardboard-shredding machines for the processing of used corrugated boxes into fillers. An estimated 80 percent or 6,170 kg of used cartons can be recycled as fillers. The company also plans to use zero-emission electric motorcycles for more eco-friendly logistics transportation in the future.
The company is fully committed to nation building as it works closely with various key stakeholders including the Philippine Government and the Department of Health, LGU partners nationwide, clients, customers and suppliers, and most especially patients, ensuring lives of millions of Filipinos are impacted every day.
I am truly happy that we are, indeed, making progress in helping the environment, thanks to these sustainable initiatives by Zuellig Pharma, palanggas
