Debutant Daniela Azanza opts for a simple tea party

Birthday girl Daniela Azanza with her doting father Fritz Azanza

Daniela Kierulf Azanza  celebrated her 18th birthday with a tea party surrounded by her family, closest schoolmates and her parents’ friends who have seen her grow up.

A student leader in Poveda, this charming young lady recently graduated from high school and was given the prestigious Service Award.  She now looks forward to going to the Ateneo to take up management economics.

The idea of a tea party bloomed when her mother Sharon Azanza thought that their garden would be the perfect venue.  She  wanted the setting to have a romantic, Victorian theme, but it had to be relaxed and casual.

Chef Jessie Sincioco was commissioned to prepare a tea buffet with the menu prepared in bite-sized servings.  Porcelain tea sets that were lovingly collected through the years were laid out on a table spread with the family’s antique lace collection and adorned with romantic white birdcages that contained beautifully scented floral arrangements, accented by tea-light candles.

The dessert buffet was sumptuously filled with many of the celebrant’s favorite treats that kept many of the guests coming back for seconds and thirds.

Daniela’s school friends, as well as the young men from Ateneo and Xavier, enjoyed themselves, as evidenced by the constant laughter coming from their side of the Azanza garden.  As the evening wore on, we noticed that not only were they having a good time, they were also singing in unison, to our delight.  We  enjoyed the musical numbers and realized that we could actually sing along to several of the younger set’s chosen songs.

It was heartwarming to see the young generation so carefree and natural, enjoying a special evening with a sweet debutante and her guests of all ages.
