Rustan’s brings in Lladró’s flower artist from Spain

MANILA, Philippines -Rustan’s celebrates Lladró’s 60th year, by bringing in Lladró’s very own flower artist, Adela Oller on June 7 and 8, at 5 p.m. at Rustan’s Makati and Rustan’s Shangri-La respectively for flower demonstrations.

Lladró Porcelains, handcrafted in Valencia (Spain) in an entirely artisan process, has always been synonymous with prestige, beauty and quality. Lladró  is the fruit of the passion for art porcelain of brothers Juan, José and Vicente Lladró, who founded the company in 1953.

This is not the first time that Oller has traveled outside Spain for a flower demonstration. Having demonstrated her art in many countries, she finds the experience highly positive as it gives her a chance to actually meet the people who admire Lladró pieces and the work she carries out in the City of Porcelain.

Each piece is made following a meticulous process. Between the initial sketch and the definitive test of the fire, each work passes through several phases. This cycle means that, despite sharing the same original model, each piece is different from the others, guaranteeing its owners the possession of a unique work.

For its 60th anniversary, Lladró focuses on flowers — specifically sunflowers which remind us of the country where Lladró was born. The sun is closely associated with the image of Spain.

At the age of 14, Oller applied for the exam to enter Lladró and was selected. She eventually joined the team of flower artists, a task in which she would soon become a specialist.

For her, the elaboration of porcelain flowers is beyond doubt the most gratifying task. She believes that this job is the most creative, attractive and handcrafted of all those she has undertaken, especially as it requires a lot of skill and sensibility, the two qualities all flower artists must possess.

For this event, Rustan’s together with Lladró  gives customers an exclusive treat with a special Lladró cleaning kit for a minimum single receipt purchase of P95,000.

The celebration is also for the brand’s New Modern collection. Innovative designs associated with the original themes close to Lladró’s values make this spring 2013 collection very dynamic and avant-garde.

Some of the collection’s highlights include the best seller “Nude with Shawl” that shows the strength and sensuality of a woman. This re-deco version shows the intricate floral decoration of the beautiful Manila shawl lending the piece a very Andalusian touch.

The Matador creation on the other hand pays tribute to bullfighting with a spectacular piece not only in terms of its size but also for its faithful reproduction of all the details of the bullfighter’s costume. Spanish art and culture then take shape with Lladro’s “Passion and Soul” that demonstrates the traditional flamenco in which the woman’s gypsy features and the self-assurance with which she handles the fan captures attention. Complementing a space is Lladro’s “Sparrows Vase” wherein a pair of sparrows is perched on the branches of a flower-laden hibiscus. The vase is a demonstration of the excellent work of the ornamentation team. Lastly the Five Senses collection literally showcases the touch, taste, sight, smell and hearing senses.
