Styling for the real world

MANILA, Philippines - Mexx, a contemporary fashion brand for trendy separates and high-rotation basics, presented a showcase of every day style with its recent blogger styling challenge.

Built in 1986 from the fusion of the men’s fashion brand Moustache(M), the ladies’ brand Emmanuelle(E) and added flourish of two kisses (XX), Mexx has always been the go-to label desired by both men and women. In 2010, the brand transitioned to a metropolitan casual look that sought to incorporate trends with street-savvy styling. And today, this movement shines through in the Philippines’ own styling challenge featuring the country’s top fashion bloggers.

Among the roster were top fashion bloggers Laureen Uy, Tricia Gosingtian, David Guison and Lissa Kahayon. They were invited to a special day out at the Mexx store with the challenge of styling Mercedes-Benz marketing manager Grace Enriquez,  marketing assistant for international brands Renee Chingcuangco, Esprit brand assistant Anjelica Coronel, British India brand assistant Christina de Venecia, and Cinderella marketing manager Lana Macapagal.

First up was Lana Macapagal who was styled by Laureen Uy in a smart yet still playful attire of a lush floral blouse, paired with cotton pants and a blazer. This outfit is perfect for casual Fridays at work and a dinner date in the city.

Also styled by Laureen was Grace Enriquez who also wore a floral blouse paired with red pants and a blush cardigan. The playful florals, which were the central focus of both outfits, matched those on celebrity blogger Laureen’s own attire.

Then there was Renee Chingcuangco who also wore red pants paired with a nude, drape-front blouse. The soft color and draping served as a feminine counterpoint to the fierce bottoms showing off the expert balance that is seen in every outfit worn by her stylist for the day, regionally recognized blogger Tricia Gosingtian.

As for Christina de Venecia and her style teammate for the day Lissa Kahayon, it was all about soft layers. Christina was made to wear a drape-front black blouse paired with a printed skirt and a cardigan.

Breaking away from the usual feminine silhouette, blogger David Guison dressed up Angelica Coronel in a grayscale intarsia sweater (cinched at the waist), and worn with beige trousers with a cross-body bag.

Mexx is exclusively distributed in the Philippines by Cinderella Marketing Corporation.

Mexx stores are at Alabang Town Center and Shangri-La Plaza Mall East Wing, with other stores opening soon in Glorietta and SM Aura.
