MANILA, Philippines - Aldo’s latest campaign is all about getting lucky, whether you’re hunting for the perfect pair of shoes in your size or putting together an outfit to wow that special someone (who you just haven’t met yet).
What better theme than “Getting lucky, Vegas-style”? Aldo’s campaign is all about emphasizing the city’s old-school glitz and modern magic, putting models in classic glam accessories and pairing them with iconic Vegas objects: a magician’s top hat, a showgirl’s stage, a deck of cards.
Leading the pack is model-turned-actor Matthew Gray Gubler (the King of Spades). The Vegas native was scouted by a model agent while attending film school in New York City. After a few stellar modeling gigs he scored an internship with Wes Anderson and later landed a role in one of his films.
But, at heart, Gubler’s a bit of a nerd (in his own [tweeted] words: “I always thought I was like the cool Ethan Hawke character in Reality Bites but turns out I’m actually the Ben Stiller”) best-known for his geek-chic roles as Dr. Spencer Reid on the hot TV series Criminal Minds. Both Dr. Reid and Gubler are amateur magicians and like his character, Gubler oozes sexiness even in spectacles and V-neck sweaters, making him the perfect fit for Aldo Get Lucky. Joining Gubler and rounding out the campaign pack are two industry veterans: British model and Aldo campaign star Lily Donaldson (the Queen of Spades) and Terry Richardson (the Wild Card) working his magic behind the camera.
