Have you heard the latest secret?

MANILA, Philippines - It’s no longer a secret. Young fashionistas are sharing their latest discovery: Call It Spring, the fun, trendy international brand from the renowned Aldo Group. The best thing about it is that the shoes and accessories by Call It Spring are surprisingly affordable.

This season, Call It Spring celebrates the spirit of youth with its three major trends — Garden State, Nouvelle Romance & One World. Taking inspiration from the individual style and freedom of expression of the young, Call It Spring also asked some of Manila’s stylish young denizens to share with us a few of their style secrets.

The main collection, Garden State, showcases footwear with natural materials like wood, raffia, basket weave, and crochet in silhouettes like clogs, espadrilles and wedges. This collection is perfect for that garden party or summer romance in the countryside.

Stylist and designer Tin Iglesias loves wearing wedges because apart from comfort, the additional height from wedges ensures that her legs look as long and lean as possible. Wedges can also be feminine and edgy at the same time — it all just depends on how you style them!

A simple trick from fashion blogger Rosanna Aranaz is to wear plain white espadrilles to anchor down brights or a denim on denim look. Aisa Ipac also shares that wearing a pair of black tights with your wedges can make your outfit look instantly edgier.

Those looking for something more ladylike and dressy can take their pick from the Nouvelle Romance collection. Lace, bows and satin from this collection exude simplicity, softness, and sensuality. A pair of nude colored pumps from this collection is definitely a must-have for any fashionista in the making. Apart from elongating your legs, pumps are classic pieces that can take you from one season to another.

Keigh Jalbuena, an advertising major from Assumption College, says that when finding the perfect pair of nude pumps, she makes sure to pick a color which will complement her skin tone. This is something close to, but doesn’t exactly match the color of her skin. Once you find that perfect pair, you can wear it with almost everything! Since nude is a neutral color, you can have fun pairing it with anything from your closet — from fun and flirty dresses, to shorts and even pants.

Also perfect for summer is the One World Collection. Inspired by the Aztecs and South America, this collection is all about adventure and global trends as seen on the bright colors like hot pink and orange, animal-inspired and Ikat prints, and details such as feathers and beads.

Vern Enciso, fashion blogger and student at De La Salle University, shares that in choosing an outfit, one must always remember to keep things balanced. We may be wearing all the trendy clothes, but if you look tacky, it wouldn’t work. Most importantly, one should always wear something you’re comfortable in because it shows when you’re not!
