The maxi dress is back

MANILA, Philippines - Fashion is having a blast from summers past as maxi dresses make sweeping statements at SM.

The maxi dress had one of its earliest appearances in 1968, when the New York Times highlighted a cotton lace version by Oscar de la Renta that he created for the Elizabeth Arden salon. Other designers like YSL, Dior, Cardin, Biba, and Halston would soon include long dresses in their collections, and this peaked in the 1970s along with caftan and boho styles.

And with style icons Blake Lively and Nicole Richie leading the way, SM’s exclusive resort label Coco Cabaña is taking the long view of fashion with the return of the maxi dress.

Now, you can channel your inner flower child with flowing and feminine maxi dresses perfect for hot summer days and sultry summer nights. Head for the beach, stroll along the coast, play it cool in the club scene, and sweep the city streets in style in dreamy Coco Cabaña maxi dresses. These come in dazzling colors stamped with pretty postcard prints — Oriental blooms, ditsy country florals, exotic ethnic prints, and bright stripes.

Take fashion to the max with Coco Cabaña’s maxi dress collection beautifully photographed at the Kabayan Beach Resort in Laiya, San Juan, Batangas. The collection is available at the Ladies’ Wear Department of the SM Department Store.
