Fun in the sun without burning skin

Hi, Lucy!

How can I keep my skin smooth with no tan lines or sunburn marks? Are you using a special cream to keep the sun from burning your skin? I’m fair-skinned like you.

Dana

Hi, Dana! Simple. I stay out of the sun and in the shade, but should I need to venture under the sun, I slather sunblock all over. I use Obagi sunblock on my face and either Coppertone or Hawaiian Tropic on my body. Like I always say, it’s better to have pale, healthy skin than a golden but badly damaged one. Happy summer! Lucy

Scrubbing Calluses Away
Dear Tingting,

I’m an avid fan of your column and reading your beauty tips helps a lot in my everyday work. My problem is my callus, which is very conspicuous when I wear sandals or slippers. I’ve had it since grade school, but I took it for granted, hoping it would just disappear after a while. But now, I’m beginning to worry about it. How can I get rid of it?

Scrub some Derma E microdermabrasion scrub exfoliant on your callus. Another remedy is to wash it with soap and water and scrub your callus with a pumice stone. Soaking your feet in soap and water during a pedicure will also soften your callus. Ask your manicurist to cut some of the dead skin from your callus and file smoothly.

From Black To White Underarms
Dear Mary,

My problem has to do with my black underarms. What’s the best thing for me to do to whiten them? Sometimes, I sweat more than usual. Please recommend something affordable.

Faye

There is quite an effective cream called Magic Cream, which can be found at any HBC-Hortaleza Beauty Center with over a hundred branches nationwide. You can try its outlets at Ayala MRT 3, Makati City (tel. no. 752-7233); G/F Alimall, Araneta Center, Cubao, Quezon City (tel. no. 995-8768); 1880 CM Recto Ave. corner Severino Reyes St., Quiapo (tel. no. 733-7516). The best thing to do is to use the whitener at night and a strong deodorant during the day.
