MANILA, Philippines - Flipside, a pioneer in the global e-book industry, is now one of nine international ePub Conversion & Delivery Houses approved by Apple Inc. for its iBooks e-book platform, part of the iTunes ecosystem.
Flipside is the only Filipino company to be listed by Apple under Approved ePub Conversion & Delivery Houses, successfully going through Apple’s strict screening process to ensure that the recommended service providers are “best-of-breed” in the global e-book industry.
Apple, one of the major global retailers of e-books through the iBooks Store and currently the largest company in the world by market capitalization, has also identified Flipside as one of only two service providers with the capability to produce all of the advanced EPUB 3.0 features in iBooks, including Fixed Layout, Read Aloud, Javascript Interactivity, as well as proficiency with Apple’s iBooks Author format.
Being a homegrown company, Flipside is also the only service provider to support iBooks publishing in the Filipino language, in addition to Western and other Asian languages.
“We are honored to be selected by Apple as one of its recommend services and stand ready to help publishers and authors publish their titles on iBooks according to Apple’s standards. The entire Flipside team worked hard for a year and a half to gain Apple’s recommendation and we ultimately demonstrated our ability to produce top-quality e-books and serve the international publishing industry as we have been doing for many years,” says Anthony De Luna, CEO & president of Flipside.
Flipside will serve Philippine-based iBooks content providers through Flipside Publishing Services, Inc. (FPSI), and international publishers through Flipside Digital Content Company, Inc. (FDCCI).
