Summer’s more fun in the Philippines

Former Camarines Sur governor and Go Negosyo trustee Lray Villafuerte Jr. started the first wakeboarding spot in the country. The Camsur Watersports Complex or CWC is a unique watersports park designed for wakeboarding, wakeskating and waterskiing. It offers a six-point cable ski system, coupled with restaurants, sandbars, spas, pro shops and grandstands for guests and tourists. Since then it has garnered much attention, making tourists from around the world want a piece of Camsur’s adventure.

Through the nine years of Go Negosyo, we have awarded and recognized entrepreneurs who have tourism as their business model. Why not?  I have always believed in what our country has to offer: our beautiful islands and beaches, remarkable scenery, rich biodiversity, forests, mountains, and our hospitable Filipinos who are always warm to visitors and never fail to offer a smile.

Tourism is where our country has a natural comparative advantage, and we are fortunate to have a marketing and business-oriented Tourism Secretary, Mon Jimenez, who knows how to highlight these advantages to generate record-breaking tourism revenues.

With our government finally moving toward the airports and road infrastructure developments to make it more fun and convenient to come to the Philippines, those setting up resorts, hotels, and other tourist destinations will definitely benefit. It’s also a chance for support services like connecting transport systems, restaurants,  and souvenir shops to prosper, which many local entrepreneurs can do as a business model.

Let me share with you some of the entrepreneurs in our community, who are passionate about their negosyos and have all contributed to leveling up our tourism industry,  a reason many tourists come back again and again.
